STOP AND GO
(2021)
Stop and Go was born from a vision I had about combining neon, video, darkness, and sound in an immersive installation. I designed and constructed a 5-foot-tall free-standing traffic light post out of PVC pipe with wooden rods inside to hang the stoplight from and created traffic lines for the floor to contribute to the three-dimensional nature of the piece. The final touch was a video piece I created to play behind the neon.
This piece, to me, is a part of a far bigger project that connects to much of my other work, primarily that of my long exposure photography and other sound pieces.
Process photos, including the neon bending process and assembling and painting the traffic light post.
THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE
(2021)
This piece was inspired by a longtime love of mine, the television series The X-Files. It felt fitting that after growing up doodling the same UFO every single day in middle school, I would design my first neon piece the same way.
I decided to create an installation to accompany its showing, a recreation of the office of the show's main character, Fox Mulder. The neon piece resides where his UFO poster normally hangs on his wall.
Fox Mulder's office as seen on The X Files.
